Hi, I'm Kevin. I'm 18, gay, and am on this blog a lot when I should be doing school work. My interests fluctuate, so you'll see a lot of different things on here. My ask box is open if you are curious about anything.
School dances are the worst because on the one hand, there’s a lot of really cute boys dressed up all fancy and doing sexual things on the dance floor, but on the other hand, THEYRE ALL STRAIGHT. fml.
Thank you :)
Honestly, the people who are criticizing Jared Leto so harshly for his Oscar need to take several seats. Regardless of what stereotypes or whatever you seem to think are being perpetuated so hard in this situation, it was not Jared’s decision to do so. In fact, in his acceptance speech, he talks a lot about the message of the movie and AIDs awareness. While it would have been nice if he were to talk about issues in the trans* community, at least he didn’t babble on about himself for 2 minutes like some other actors who won awards for their roles in the same movie *cough* Matthew *cough*
I personally do not see it as marginalization for a cis actor to be playing the role of a trans person, but that’s an argument for another time. Regardless of gender identity, acting is acting. Sometimes audition processes can be biased, but there’s nothing you’re going to do about it if you’re just sitting at home griping on tumblr. Let actors be grateful for their accomplishments. Let them use their privlidged stance in life as a way to help those who are oppressed. Don’t tell them they shouldn’t be able to do something just because they are white or cisgendered. You’re becoming the very thing you’re asking someone else not to be. It’s discriminating on someone based on their personal identity, be it sexual, gender, racial, or any other. While there is no stigma of racism/sexism/”heterophobia”/”cisphobia”, there is still a discrimination going on there, and it’s not right.
This is why people are so polarized against gay rights or trans* rights or women’s rights sometimes. Y’all come on too damn strong. Wanting representation is one thing. Acknowledging that there were also trans* actors who could have played Jared’s part in that movie is one thing. Saying “I would have like to see (trans* actor/actress) in that role, I think he/she/whatever they wish to be called could have done a great job with it” is perfectly logical and civil. Saying that Jared Leto deserves to go to hell or should give his award back simply because he performed well in a role that he was cast in is beyond hypocritical, and really off-putting. Come down of your fucking moral high horse and realize that the world outside of tumblr doesn’t work like that. God dammit some of you people really need to chill out.
I have a /tagged/me page that’s pretty recently updated. I’ll try to post a new one soon though!
The thing that I get most excited about on snow days when my parents have work is the ability to eat an entire pizza for lunch and not be judged
14- Biggest turn offs:
Immaturity, lack of intellegence, bad hygiene, arrogance, and guys who don’t like it rough. Also, anonymous users on tumblr ;) (that was a subtle hint to introduce yourself and say hi because I’m really bored)
30- What I hate most about school:
The constant feeling of being babied and treated as a child just because my peers are unable to be fully functioning adults. There are some high schoolers in this world who DON’T need that kind of regulation and it just rubs me the wrong way sometimes.
5’8”. I’m short :(
15- Favorite Movie:
I can’t think of one particular one off the top of my head, but I love the movies when one actor plays like every single part (IE Norbit)
19- Fact about my personality:
I have a deadly combination of insane perfectionism and immense laziness. The two don’t usually mix
21- What I love most about myself:
My ability to still put on a smile even if I’m totally deflated inside.
43- sexiest person that comes to mind immidiately:
Tom Hiddleston or Adam Levine. mmmmmmmmmm….
